Remember, July 1, 2008 we start using the 2006 IRC/2005 NEC for residential electrical items.

If I am understanding your question correctly, the 2006 IRC electrical section is derived from the 2005 NEC. Appendix Q, starting on page 643 of the 2006 IRC has all the cross-references to the 2005 NEC.

I'm not residential, but are you saying 2008 NEC is in effect? Normally I see posters at the supply house warning everyone months before it is adopted and I haven't saw anything?

If they keep with the standard procedure, we run 2 years behind on the IRC and 3 years on the NEC with regard to residential work. It is adopted mid-year. I am not sure what the procedure is for commercial.
We are safe from '08 until July 1, 2011 barring changes.

We have until 9/2008 to COMMENT on it's adoption.

We have been under 2005 NEC since July of 2007
So I take it the state adopts it commercially one year earlier than residentially.
