I have the tool that when you have the the R5 or R6 connector on the coax that crimps it in place. Do they make a tool that pushes the connector on the coax? I was in the attic the other day and I was having a hard time pushing the connector on due to toughness and sweating real bad. In fact I couldn't get it and had to get someone Else to do it. Is there such a tool?

you can use this. Thread the connector on the end and use it to stabilize while you push the wire on.

I also prefer to use the compression fittings with a tool like this. I don't used ideal.

Might be kinda hard if he doesn't have a helper, or his helper isn't around. ;)

sometimes those connectors are a little tough to put on especially with sweaty hands. gloves might make it easier to put on but your hands will be a little warm

I use both of the tools that mikeames posted. They work great.

did you have the right connector? are you sure you weren't trying to put quad-shield connector on dual shield cable or vice-versa?

You need to use a coaxial flaring tool before putting the connector on.

it may be useful sometimes on quad-shield, but generally as long as you don't use a flat-blade type cutting tool the connector should slide right on.

I've probably put 5000 quad shield connectors on in the past 6 years and haven't needed anything like that.
But I might have saved some time if I had one. Never seen one or tried one.

Ok. Let me rephrase that. You don't need to use a coaxial cable flaring tool but it may help. :)

I have an F-connector installing bit that fits in my 1/4"-hex electric screwdriver. The tip is the same empty F-connector barrel that the other plug-installing tools have.

This was what I was thinking - check the cable, it will tell you if its rg/6 or rg/6 quad. YOu need to use the right connector for the cable, or you will have a tough time mashing it on. There are a few brands that were quad and I used quad connectors and it didnt work out well. Cheap cable is garbage...

And the right stripper for the cable - 6 Quad is a PITA when not stripped to the first sheild.
