My buddy calls me from the beach. He is installing new cabinets at his parent's condo after a water leak wrecked the place. When it was time to move the stove, it was hard wired. Except, there were only two wires coming out of the wall. I ask if the ground had been cut short, and he said it was not. Some genious had wired black to black, red to red and white. (The stove had three wires running from it) I have yet to hear back if the white was actually hooked up inside the stove.

The place was built in the 70's. Anyone every heard of running only two wires to a stove? I know I have seen stuff much older that was still 3 wire.

Just curious....

Some of the old "apartment size" stoves were 120V, 30 amp.

That's a first for me. Doesn't sound safe at all.
