On bid clerk per say. What is the process to even being involved in a bidding process from start to commencement of the job. No lectures please about capital, insurance, estimating, etc.

not sure what you are asking but I will take a shot, we get invitaions to bid with general contractors we also ask general contractors who are on the list of contractors bidding a job if they would like a number from us

That helps. More specifically, how do you get invited to bid, and what's the first step to getting in the door? Is it a letter of qualification? If I wanted to bid on something 2k sq ft. what's my first step?

You need to put your business out there for prosrective clients to see, join your local Chamber of Commerce,get a web site,check you paper for bid advertisements for government work,check your state government web site for info on getting on thier list,contact General contractors directly and most important bid work.
