Congrats to him for advertising and stating his case. I see he is certified but don't know if there is a licensing law where he works or if he has insurance. That is the question.

Would a homeowner hire him?
I just love his mastery of language, and the fact that he's "certified", which doesn't exist in California. There is a Journeyman's license, and a Contractors license, but no "certified".
Homeowners will get what they pay for!

Here is the list of CA certified Electricians. (See link) And yes, to work for a C-10 electrical contractor as a Journyman you must be certified in the State of California. But the question of hiring him? Well seeing its really hard to find certified guys in Ca, I would atleast interview him for the job.

Would a homeowner hire him?
There are many homeowners that will not hire him but some that are just looking for a cheap price will. I know of a handyman that does electrical, plumbing, carpentry and almost anything. From what I have seen he screws most everything up as far as quality and even safety but the same people continue to hire him. They hire him because he charges $25 an hour cash, much of the time he is covered up in work.

Is he covered in blood too by any chance?

Considering he is a butcher of the English language, and probably all things electrical, I might hire him to wash my truck once in a while, or maybe split and stack some firewood.

8. Do you need a 220V circuit for a dryer or some equipment you want to run?
Do you think he would get confused if I requested a 240 volt receptacle?

Can't blame a man for trying to find work in this crummy housing market. However, if I was a homeowner I would look at his poor writing skills and assume that he was probably a hack artist. I know everybody makes mistakes with the English language but for Pete's sake if your writing an ad make sure it sounds intelligent before publishing it.

i bet his native language clients keep him busy as hell were he is at and looks from the ability level of his engrish he would be busy as hell here too. and computer literate also with craigs list and if givin his location he probably has some real winners working for him whose engrish is not near what his is - i guess its all about the market
to answer the question no i would not hire him ( i might check his references and sub him although:grin: j/k)

I see he is certified . . .
He didn't say he was, he just asked if we needed someone who was.
"Hire me instead!"

I wouldn't hire 'm, but then again I have a hard time bringing myself to hire anyone, for anything.

Do everyone concerned a favor and turn him into the contractors board. I'm seeing more and more of this were someone says they are licensed, ect, but no listing of their license number. Listing your license number is required in all advertisements in California, ones without are not licensed. Probably a child molster that can't get a license. Scary that someone would let him into their house.

My neighbor recently hired a contractor to perform some repairs in a house he was selling. The contractor told my neighbor he was licensed in all 50 states.
That's a LOT of licensing to keep up with......Must cost a fortune every year with renewals.

I stand corrected. I wasn't aware the state used the term "certified"
And I agree with Larry fine's comment. (He didn't say he was certified).
And of course, you can't legally advertise or contract for electrical work with only a "certification". You need a C-10 Electrical Contractors License (as also mentioned above).
BTW, this ad didn't really bother me. I don't try compete with folks that advertise on Craigslist. I was looking for tools, and took a gander at the "skilled trades" section. I just thought it was funny.

I'm a little surprised. I guess you don't read the CSLB's newsletter?
They have not begun enforcing it yet but it's the law. Your employees are technically required to be certified.

I'd tell him ya, sure buddy. Just like I'm president of the United States. Were there any white rings under this guys nose per chance?
I have 2 masters licenses, and a J card, to cover most of the west (reciprocity of cards to just work, not necessarily contract), and I snivel about the cost.

yeah he's making an assumption. Also he spelled molester wrong by spelling it: molster. That's pretty damn funny.
