When searching for a slip EMT fitting for another thread, I checked a few of the more obscure fitting manufacturers. I ran across this fitting. I cannot for the life of me figure out how it is to be used. The manufacturer describes it as a "rim box connector". Maybe for EMT takeoffs from cable tray?

looks similiar to what we used to call "insulator supports". Looks to me like you could clip the "claw" over the edge of a beam or truss and then mount a box with the bolt

No, but if they exist, I want to know about them. Never know what you'll need in a jam, and I don't rely on counter men to give accurate information.

Could you slide a conduit through that opening? Then it may be a type of strap...Or as mentioned a box mount... Don't know exactly what a rim box is. Never seen one like that either.

Its listed in PECO catalog Here (http://peco.thomasnet.com/viewitems/flex-ac-mc-nm-cable-fittings/rim-box-connector) under connectors for Flex, AC/MC,and NM. Maybe thats a clue.

It looks like a cable tray clamp like you said but I just cant picture its actual install. I am puzzled. MOO.

That's for MC cable, and i believe it mounts to cable tray. Crouse-Hinds carries a similar product for use with EMT.

( former counter guy )
