My partner and I were getting ready to make a simple pull to a new subpanel when he made the comment hes never had a head come apart. After this statement he said the closest he had ever come was when he was using the tugger to pull wire through 11 90s. I just looked at him and as ive learned to just nodded my head. This guy also makes da comments anytime I turn a breaker off to work anything hot. Hes also tried to tell me glue inside of a coupling will cause wire to bind up Hes been with the company for 8 years since he got out of highschool so all I can do is just not my head Oh I forgot to mention in his own mind he is the best thing since sliced bread. How would do you guys handle someone like this. Ill keep his comments coming as I keep scratching my head

I've learned a couple of tricks when dealing with these types. Anything you can teach him he'll feel like he does or should know already. They think they've got it all figured out, and they want to stay that way. So what I've done is to play into that. Whenever you get the chance to show him something that you know he doesn't - play it up big time. I'm not talking about bragging, I'm talking about sharing info - but it's all in how you do it.
You got to approach it as a pack leader throwing a little scrap of meat to the lower dog. Never let on you may learn a thing or two from him, but be sure he knows who knows more. Something like "Try it this way, you'll see why". Always give the impression that you're not fully giving out all you know - make him come back to learn from the "BIG DOG" so that one day he can strive to be a "BIG DOG" himself.

When you apply glue inside the coupling, it gets pushed in by the conduit, and can constrict the inside diameter, even if only enough to jam up a mouse. No matter how much you apply to the outside of the pipe, it can't do that.

well, he's absolutely right about the glue.... i haven't used any for years
for that very reason myself... i just twist the coupling and pipe back
and forth really quickly, until it friction welds.

works like a charm... give him a piece of pipe and a coupling and have
him show you how....;) you'll learn some new stuff if you watch this guy
really closely.....

now, his boss, unless he's this guys brother in law, should be fired
immediately. HE's an idiot.:D

One time I was sitting next to Iwire in a code update course and the instructor started rattling off a list of phantom code rules. I looked over at him and he made the funniest face you can imagine. I almost died from holding the laughter inside. :D

I worked with a guy like this...I got another conspirator to add some input to the one up's....last untopable "up" ~ the co-conspirator and I convinced the dude that we had lived in Jamaica for 8 years as spear fishermen :roll:.

I had a guy actually do this once. He installed it correctly, but he intentually pushed his fish tape right though a 1900 box and pulled past more than four 90's.

J should I take offense from that statement since im from the same culture? As far as whos got more senority he definitely does. However I feel I might be a more well rounded electrician As ive done commercial and resi for about 8 years. Firing his boss is not an option as his boss owns the company.
