So I had an application for a bunch of black emt. Thought I would use the colored emt from allied. I ordered samples, and what a disapointment. I was thinking the coloring was some sort of anodizing or colored galvanizing, or black oxide for the black, or SOMETHING good. Wow was I wrong. Dont know about the other colors, but the black was just lightly sprayed with flat black paint. After handling it, i looked like I had been working in a coal mine, and the pipe showed up so banged up it has to be repainted anyways.
Anyone else use this stuff?

so irritating....from reading their lit i thought they had developed some way to color the galvanized coating. any idiot can paint the stuff. no wonder every picture they show of it is a rendering, no actual product photos.

We just have the painters spray it in the morning and we hang it in the afternoon

Its actually a chromate dye over the zinc plating. Its not very durable or permanent. Our colored fittings are enamel coated to provide a much more durable finish than what you can get on the conduit.
