Any body ever hooked up one of these systems? If so what pitfalls do I need to look out for? Here is a link to the system the customer has purchased.

Its really just a industrial wireless io. The biggest thing you need to be careful about is the path between the two antennas and type of antennas.

On the homepage they show an omnidirectional antenna which puts out a round signal so you can't concentrate the signal in one direction. I would strongly recommend to 2 directional antenna pointing at each other with direct line of site. I have seen and heard of so many horror stories. It seems like half of the time or more these systems are unsuccessfully installed and become a headache with intermittent success. They can still work without line of site, but you might have varying success in the winter verse summer(leaves/rain).

I would recommend the wireless Ethernet route if you are going wireless. It will allow you to expand with no additional expense. Everything is going Ethernet now days. You can pull all of the information out of the drive you want. GE has wireless Ethernet/IP system for 900mhz which is more of an industrial Ethernet solution then some wireless Ethernet devices I have seen.

Good Luck, Steve
