I know code rule for receptacle counter tops-no point can be more than 2 feet from a receptacle. How close to sink (edge) can you put a receptacle? I cannot find a code rule so your "opinion" and possible code reference would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are asking how close is too close to a sink, The answer would be: It is up to your judgement.

Obviously, the receptacles are intended to serve the countertop surfaces and not the sink area, so I don't see any value in placing them behind a sink. It frustrates the homeowner and looks bad. Otherwise, the first post is right on.

They can be behind them if you like. But it will not count for the required outlet. The space begins at the edge of the sink.Sometimes its hard because of framing.
