My brother-in-law is having a discussion with an inspector. Inspector says that the wiring in a wall shared by two apartments must be in conduit.
Is this true? We live in South Carolina. I know the state code may be different as well as the county code, but is this standard.

Ask where he is getting this code as 334.10 Uses Permitted. allows it if the finsh has a 15 min. rating or more. and the party wall in multi-familiy housing must have a 2 hour rating in most ares of the country. so it is allowed as long as anything breaching it must be fire rated caulked and if the N/M breaches this fire wall it must be sleaved. Even plastic nail-on box's have a 1 hour rating.
