Thanks for reading this post! What is the code requirement for the placement of a security alarm panel in a SFD? Can they be in closets? Are there space requirements? Thank you in advance!

I would make sure you consider Articles 110.26 Spaces About Electrical Equipment and
110.13 Mounting and Cooling of Equipment.

The NEC doesn't cover security systems with the exception of the wire that is to be used. You can put a security panel anywhere and I've seen them in the most God awful places imaginable.

There is no specific location as per NEC but the basic way of doing it is to place it where the secured area is. It is like installing control panel inside the door not outside so the one getting in cannot get in.

this is more in the line of security advice than wiring advice, but...
place the panel in a location covered by multiple layers of detection [door/window switches and motion sensors] such that an intruder must violate several zones to reach the panel and rip it off the wall.
