I have seen alot of support on this forum and elsewhere for the use of X10 products in post construction. What about new construction; what is the most common product used for hard-wiring? For residential, that is.

Google for Lutron and Leviton. Depends on how much $ you want to spend.

for electrical pros try www.x10pro.com (http://www.x10pro.com)

x10 pro's factory reps are really helpful on the design side of things.

hardwire whenever possible.

the main difference between powerline carrier dimmers and the more expensive automation systems used to be that x10 could only fire up at full brightness and then dimmed down, where the high-end systems could ramp up from full-off.
