Flickering lights

We have some lights that flicker every once in awhile and the T.v. flickers at the same time what can I do

There are several issues that can cause lights and equipment to "flicker". I do not know your level of qualification, but there are several things you can check.

First check to make sure all grounded (neutral) connections are tight at all terminals in the loadcenter panel.

Check to determine if significant voltage drop is occuring on the general purpose branch circuits from heavy appliance loads.

Check incoming power from utility to ensure problem is not on their end.

Turn on the bigger loads like motors, heater, dryers, ect to see if a these loads starting are effecting the entire power quality.

Do you have a well pump?
Are your neighbors having the same problems?
How far is your house from your transformer?
Any certain time of day?

Changing which breaker the TV circuit and light circuit is on may help. It may be next to a breaker feeding a major appliance. Although this is an unlikely remedy I have seen it work successfully. To protect the TV, especially if it is a good quality one, you can put it on a UPS. (Uninterruptable power supply) You should be able to buy one online for about $100 whcih is a cheap investment if your TV costs over $1000. This will provide clean, regulated power and even run the TV for a few minutes during a short power outage. Surges can destroy electronic appliances, the UPS is a quick, cheap and easy way to protect expensive electronic equipment.

Tom; Why do you ask if there is a well pump?

When the motor starts it creates a voltage drop due to starting current on motor. If the electrical service is long (IE significant voltage drop) the well pump could cause the flickering lights
