It is acceptable to feed two separate 120v/20A circuits from a common 12ga neutral. I would have pulled separate neutrals for each circuit but I have several electricians who insist this is ok. Both circuits are fed from the same 240v panel. The circuits are not on the same yoke and the breakers are not interlocked with a handle tie. The circuits supply devices 50ft apart. To me this is an accident waiting to happen when somewhen services or modifies one of the circuits.

Read about the Edison System, this is basic electrical theory. Then study about using one neutral conductor for three circuits.
