Can RTV be used as a sealing compound?

Sealing what? The gap between the edge of a drilled hole and the raceway going through the hole? Yes.
As duct seal stopping infiltration though the raceway? 300.7(A) says the seal must be an "approved material."

Seems like theres always a smart *** , lets see this forum deals with Hazardous(Classified)Locations. I guess I would be talking about the seal off used in a hazardous(classified)location and if RTV is an approved compound.I would say it probably is not since it does not say it is on the label. Just thought this would be the place to get an answer to my question.

It definitely couldn’t be used for explosionproof seals.
Although it may meet the requirements of [2002] 501.5(C)(2)&(3) it will not meet 501.5(C)(1) which requires the seal fittings to be listed specifically for use with the sealing compound used.
Edit Add: BTW this is actually a very old requirement that just became directly "codified" in the 2002. Previously it was enforceable through 110.3(B), since most manufactures only listed their seals with their own sealing compounds.

fbhwt,
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I use http://www.mikeholt.com/cgi-bin/codeforum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_daily to get all the most recent posts in all the sub Forums.
I overlooked the sub Forum that you had posted in.
