Larry,
I have the regulations in writing from our Fire Chief. I can forward them to you if you pm me your e-mail. "Nicole's law", as it is called goes into effect 4/1/06. Battery powered detectors are acceptable. There is some talk about hard wired being required in 2007, but it's not in writing yet. The Fire Marshall's office had a meeting this past Monday or Tuesday for the fire inspectors. I just left 2 of the Grafton inspectors, and they reiterated what our Milford fire inspector told me yesterday. Essentially CO detector on every level with habitable space.

I'll post tomorrow a.m. when I get to my town office. I don't have them with me here at home.

I have 2 documents. One is a memo from the Department of Fire Safety, the other is the actual requirement as written in 527CMR31.00. They are in pdf files, and I don't know how to cut and paste, if it's possible. I don't have time to type them, but I'll forward them to anyone who wants them.

i'm in UK so dont know the codes your talking about but over here if there on different floors they should be interlinked so as to give early warning if one down stairs goes off the one on the first, second floors sounds also
