Low voltage radiant floor heat

Has anyone every worked with this stuff?

Got a customer who is asking about getting this installed at his condo.

Looks odd to me. Seems like it isn't UL listed but they say it conforms to UL standard 1693?

I went to the website, www.warmfloor.com and there is a lot of information there. It says that it has an ETL listing. ETL is one of the recognized testing labs in the US. I do not know the way to find out if the ETL site has a function such as UL's site where a person can actually find the company's listing, but maybe you can.

I've installed about a mile of that stuff. The stat has GFCI built into it. The biggest trick is educating the tile man so that the stuff doesn't get damaged during install.

Have you also installed 120V radiant floor heat?
Any preferences 24V vs 120V?
What is the stat? The elements of the heaters?

The list of approvals on the warmfloor site states that ETL labs did the testing that complies with ANSI/UL-1693. If the product was UL listed wouldn't they just say that? I will look at other radiant floor products to see if they specifially reference a UL listing.

Yes, other radiant floor heat systems I have looked at have the GFI built into the stat. I did not know that Warmfloor had that also.

By the way, Suntouch radiant floor heat system has that UL symbol all over it's literature.

I've used "Warm Tiles" made by Easy Heat. They're 240vac with a thermostat but they specifically state that this is supplemental heat only and will not heat up a room. According to the warmfloor site they claim that they can heat an entire house. I'd be interested in knowing if this is correct on a 24 volt system.

You might want to check on that again. I've installed tons of that stuff. They have two different spacings of the product. One for supplemental heat, and one for heating the room. Same stuff, just different spacing when you install it.
