Do tamper flow switches get 110v power usually or never??

It depends...

It is not uncommon for me to wire flows with both 6-24 VDC and 120 VAC in the same flow switch.

The DC is connected to the fire alarm panel and the 120 runs a large electric bell outside.

There should be 2 seperate switches on the mechanisim one for switch input to a sensor (TRI in Pyrotronics) and the other for 120 VAC. Like the other gentalman said one is for the fire alarm system and the other for the bell.

Actually, they are two different things.

A tamper switch is used to communicate to the fire alarm panel if a sprinkler system valve has been closed. It almost always sends a "trouble" signal to the fire alarm panel, and sometimes the fire department itself.

A flow switch is used in a sprinkler system to tell the fire alarm panel if water is moving in the pipe. Water flow could result from a broken pipe or sprinkler head, or an actual fire that has caused a sprinkler to activate. Either way, it sends an alarm signal to the panel, which in turn activates the notification appliances (horns, strobes, bells, etc) and also notifies the fire department.
