I use adobe image ready to reduce the avatar. If you email it to me I would be happy to try it and email it back.
I am sure julie knows the best way with photobucket but I don't. It must be a video type of software-- ie, photoshop alone won't do it.
Send me a PM if you'd like

If it is just a jpeg you should be able to reduce the image with any software for photos

Brian I tried photobucket --- seems like you can't get the sizes you need just their set sizes.

My 14 year old son did mine. Are there any teenagers in your neighborhood?

Send me a PM with a link to the raw image and I'll use GIMP (it's free -- use Google to find it) to shrink it.
Somewhere around the LAN I have a GIF animator. Sadly, I haven't the slightest idea where it is because I stopped animating GIFs after the first few ...

I use a program called "PIXresizer" ...very misleading name :D
It's free, uses very little HD space, and so on.
You can get from http://www.cnet.com/ http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/hdft/redball.gif at their

I have been looking all over for an easy way to resize pictures.
Looks like you came through again.

You should not have to download anything.
Most computers have a program already installed called "Paint"
Click on "start" ---> "Programs" ---> "accessories" ---> "paint"
Open your file in paint, and then click on "image" ---> "stretch/Skew"
Change the percentages in both horizontal and vertical to the same value. The default value is 100%, and depending on the desired file size, you can start out with 50% each, or even 25% each.
Once you have shrunk the file to your desired size, click on "file" ---> "save as" and choose a new filename for your smaller file, thus retaining the original file, and creating a new smaller version.

Avatars can't be any larger than an 80 by 80. The problem with "Paint" it is a percentage and you have to keep guessing when it is the right size. One doesn't know what size the picture is to begin with and then you must keep resizing.
I guess if there is nothing else it will do but what a pain.
I would download a free program if it will resize the actual size.

Actually, you can tell the actual size using Paint. Simply hit control+E to get the attributes. From there, you can determine the actual size, and using some simple math, determine the correct percentage to apply to the stretch/skew function. :)

You learn something new every day. I think I'll stick to adobe photoshop and image ready.

Which one????? Apparently there are people who are paying thousands of dollars having their cats done like this. It's like a cat tatoo only thing it probably will fall out in time. People have too much money.

Unfortunately it's true. People are nuts and they have too much money. We could probably feed an entire nation with our frivolous bucks

Apparently I have fallen victim to an internet prank. I went to snopes.com and did a search on painted cats and guess what? There is apparently no truth to the fact that these cats were really painted and that people were spending mucho bucks for this. It was taken from a humorous book about cats that was suppose to create ethical debate.
Here the link if anyone is interested

I still think the cat creations are incredible.
