What is the proper way of terminating VFD drive cable? Can the braided shield be trimmed back with the rest of the outer insulation/jacket.

ESP HV cable has special connectors where it exits the well casing

The shield is usually grounded at the supply end, manafactures instructions

should be followed in any case.

I agree with Frank, you bond the shield to ground on the supply end and isolate it at the other end.
