Dishwasher in Snack shop

I have to pick between hard-wiring a dishwasher and putting the lockout on the breaker or putting it on a plug.

I think lockout is better, but no one actually ever uses the lockout feature, but putting a plug in the adjacent cabinet is awkward and involves cutting a big hole in two cabinets.

Any thoughts?

Plug is the way to go for me. Why you say? cuz I like it nothing says the power is off like having the plug in your hand.

if that dishwasher is over 1/8th HP, your still going to need a disconnect within sight...

The water supply and drain have to come through the cabinets too so what's the big deal. Don't you have a hole saw and a drill?

I kind of thought un pluging it was a disconnect and the receptacle is withing sight.

Not if he goes with the breaker lock.
That's the reason for the breaker lock vs plug-in question.

Why are you against holesawing the cabinet side panel ? . The cordless drill does all the work. . Even if it's not a perfect hole, it's inside the cabinet. . Plus alot of times, the plumber holesaws a big hole for his lines from under the sink to the dishwasher and you can just jump thru that same hole. . You get 4' from receptacle to back of dishwasher, 422.16(B)(2)(2), if you keep your receptacle under the sink toward the dishwasher side you're in good shape, plus your receptacle doesn't end up behind the pipes that are under the sink.

And if there's a wooden back to the cabinet, when you install the receptacle, slide in one of these

along with the receptacle. . If the box itself isn't completely flush, the wood isn't a 314.20 problem if you use the "sparkguard".

Thanks for input..I fell asleep at my comp last night....hah.

I will go with the plug if I can sell them on a 35 $ plug and 35$ receptacle. I did not realize I got 4 feet... good to know.
