I have a job coming up that will requirer trenching which I haven't done in years. The trenching will be done with a small back hoe or trencher.
How much labor/hours per foot is reasonable and how much do some of you charge per foot.

I have found that hiring someone saves money our digger charges 70/hr with a three hour min.I rent a trencher for $150.00 and put a man on it for 3 hours I am loosing money.

Pricing for a trenching will vary by soil type, access to area, are there any underground utilities?

Don't forget to have the line mark service, check the area before digging, and above all make sure your dig contractor is insured, and he gives you proof of insurance before he even comes on the property. If he can't produce a current of insurance, that is a big red flag.

Many years ago I was working for a contractor that hired a real bozo to do the digging, he caved in the septic tank, destroyed the field, and din't have insurance, it cost the EC plenty to have all the repairs made.

Take into consideration price changes if you run into rock. Don't get caught in a landslide.
