Forum Rules

This site is designed for:
  • Contractors
  • Electricians
  • Engineers
  • Inspectors
  • Instructors
  • Other electrically related individuals
  • This NECĀ® Forum is for those in the electrical and related industries.

Questions posted that appear to be an attempt to gain assistance with an electrical installation will be removed. Forum rules prohibit us from assisting a person to perform or assist others to do electrical work who are not qualified. Mike Holt Enterprises and the Moderators of this Forum do not wish to place you and your family in danger, by allowing others to give you too little information to ensure that the installation is safe

Please understand that no discussions of the legal aspects of our profession are to be permitted. The reason is simple. The forum is intended to assist electricians, electrical contractors, inspectors, engineers, and other members of the electrical industry in the performance of our job-related tasks. But our members cannot carry out a free discussion of issues, problems, solutions, and interpretations, if we have a concern that the information we post might someday find its way into a courtroom. No information gathered from this web site shall be treated as being the opinion of an expert witness, and you do not have anyone's permission to present such information as evidence in any type of legal dispute

While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not Mike Holt, the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

How do I find my posts or replies to threads?

The easiest way to look up your posts or replies is to log into the forum, then click on the button in the top right corner titled Advanced Search. Once you have entered this area you will be able to search using a specific Username or Keyword.

I forgot my username and/or password, what can I do?

If you forgot your username or password, Click Here and enter your email address to have your login information immediately emailed to you.

I cannot log into the forum. What's wrong?

If you are getting the "You have entered an invalid username or password" error, click here to request a new password.

If you are logging on without error but are told you do not have permission to post and you have to login again, cookies are disabled. Please check your software privacy settings and enable cookies (At least for MikeHolt.com) This should fix the problem and you should then be able to utilize the entire forum.

Why should I register?

In order to fully utilize the abilities of this forum, the administrator will probably require that you register as a member. Registration is free, and allows you to do the following:
  • Post new threads
  • Reply to other peoples' threads
  • Edit your posts
  • Receive email notification of replies to posts and threads you specify
  • Send private messages to other members
  • Enter events in the forum calendar
  • Set up a 'buddy-list' to quickly see which of your friends are currently online
To register, you will need to specify a username and password, and a valid email address. Entering your email address will not leave you open to 'spam', as you can choose to hide your email address, and messages sent to you via email do not reveal your address to the sender in any case. (To verify this, you can try sending an email message to another user.) The administrator may have configured the forum to send you the final part of the registration process by email, so ensure that the email address you provide is valid and working.

If you are under the age of 13, the administrator may require that a parent or guardian provides consent before allowing you to complete the registration process. More information about this is available during the registration process.
