Crystal City/Arlington Co. - Does the light fixtures have to be individualy supported as well as being supported to the grid work?

What are the code articles that support this?

Thanks!

It's outside of the NEC, it is usually in local building codes as well as job specs.

It depends on several factors:
1) importance of the building (fire house, police station, hospital, emergency response, assembly, or educational)
2) seismic activity in your area
3) stability of soils at the site
4) codes adopted in your neck of the woods
5) knowledge of the local inspector

On smaller projects, like an un-engineered commercial remodel or something, I usually put in an appropriate number of support wires for T-grid fixtures whether they're required or not. Big projects almost always require them here.

On the Oregon Coast we're always waiting for "The Big One" from the Cascadia Subduction Zone. It's a few centuries overdue :D
