Hello everyone, first time poster here...been an electrician in IBEW 134 Chicago for nearly nine years now, and I'm planning to take the Chicago Supervising Electricians's test this November.

According to the city's website, I need a letter from a local approved contractor detailing my work history for at least two years. Problem is, I'm currently sitting on the books (laid off), and the previous contractor I worked for no longer exists.

Anyone out there familliar with this? I think my Journeyman Card is enough proof of my work expierience......any help would be appriciated, thanks in advance.

When I took my test, some of the guys in my shop told me that the shop owner would not write the letter for me. I called both the hall and the school to ask about this, and they indicated that if he didn't write the letter, that the Local would write the employment verification letter for me. I would call the Hall and also call Harry at the school. You should be fine.

Your 134 Brother
