Hello all,

I am installing a residential 120/240v 1ph generator (not portable). The automatic transfer swith does not switch the grounded conductor.

The unit is a 10KW.

I am sizing the grounded conducter to match the phase conductors, #8 copper.

Is the grounding conductor sized by 250.122? #10 copper based on the 40A cb in the transfer switch.

Thanks

The EGC for the generator should be sized based on the overcurrent device protecting the generator.

What size breaker is installed in the generator?

Chris... thanks for the response.

The 40A breaker in the transfer swith is protecting the generator. I don't believe there is another breaker at the generator itself. I'll have to double check.
