this question is from the 08 exam preparation
page 517 question 40/41

what is the current carrying capacity of 1 1/5 sq in copper busbar in a unventilated auxiliary gutter


This is what i did

1000/1.5 =500A

I got this from 366.23 (1000/in2)

but the right answer from the book is 1500A

this would be 1.5x1000= 1500

I don't understand it clearly says to devied ? right

What does this mean? 1 and 1/5th? If so, then that's 1.2, not 1.5

I think it's saying 1000 per square inch, not 1000 divided by the square inches.

oops it was supposed to be 1 1/2 or 1.5

Where you erred is in your unit conversion.

(1000 A / sq in) X 1.5 sq in =

(1000 A X 1.5 sq in) / sq in = (strikethrough "sq in" in numerator and divisor)

(1000 A X 1.5 ) =

1500A
