Osha time frame

Please provide us with legal time peramiters relating to Osha citations and penalties, specifically time allocated to Osha to issue formal written notification after inspection date. It is my understanding written correspondence must occur within 90 days of inspection date

If you haven't received a citation from OSHA within 6 months of visit, you won't get one. The business has 15 days from the time the citation is issued to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA's area director, or contest the citations and proposed penalties before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

This varies depending on whether you are in a federal jurisdiction or a state jurisdiction. Federal OSHA has to issue a citation within 6 months of the exposure, regardless of when they complete their inspection. Some states are different. Michigan, for instance, has to issue within 90 days of completing the inspection, regardless of when the exposure occured.
