Trying to find info on codes for adding an EGC to outlets that are currently wired with 2 conductor cu not sure about the restrictions on the application of the ground wire. TIA

Thanks my concern was based more on the wire application can I use a single wire to interconnect receptacles and what would be a correct way to run it conduit or can it run wild in walls or ? etc TIA
