Went to look at a repair job today for a mobile home that is looking at installing new devices throughout. It was wired with AL NM which leaves me with 2 issues, finding AL rated devices and the astonishing price that goes with it. I considered copper pigtails to standard device but AL/CU wirenuts are more than $2 each. Anyone resolved the same issue a different way. The property manager knows it is will be a parts-pricey job, but....In almost 15 years, this is my first real dealings with AL NM, so if I am missing anything (go figure ), let me know. Thanks.

It would be smarter to redo all the splices with aproved wire nuts because that mobile will be safer. Cost wise devices probably cheaper. And being your dealing with rental of an old old trailer i can bet price is all they care about

I have done alot of apartments with the purple wire nuts and have never had a problem after. In fact it cost me all the service calls out there for burnt up receptacles. Safer is for sure.:D
