Buss Drop Cable

Can someone give me the code reference that covers the vertical drop of bus drop cable from the tension take-up support? Sec. 400-8(4) refers to the horizontal attachement and limitations. If the cable is attached properly at the point of the drop, does it need any support going into the equipment?
