Greeting all,

I was reading a topic, it says like this

Hence a cable is almost always a source of lagging reactive power.


Why and what is the reason?

Because the inductive reactance for a cable almost always outweighs the capacitive coupling between the cables conductors (or between the cable and ground.)

I agree. But I will add that the effect is small, unless you are dealing with very long wires. Transmission lines will display this phenomenon; branch circuits probably will not.
