I am looking at installing some side mount fluorescent strips to give wall wash lighting up and down the wall. Wall about 16 feet; want to put these in the middle. http://www.acuitybrandslighting.com/library/LL/documents/psg/SM.pdf

Finish walls will be pine and would like a piece of pine to cover the strips as well. My question is- are the fluorescents too close to combustible surfaces here. I don't see any thing in specs and am trying to find info in code.
Thanks for the help.

I looked at rope lights, but too pricey.

If you look at fixture on the bottom you'll see some little nubs that are there to keep the fixture about a 1/4 inch or so off a surface so they don't over heat, me personally I'd leave that 1/4 inch on all sides of the fixture and you'll be fine.
