An inspector told me if a house undergoes 67% remodel, the whole house has to be electrically upgraded. I can't seem to find that in the 08 NEC. I understand it could be local juristiction.

I have no idea what that means. Upgraded to what? Who is to say that what is there is not already up to code? Also, what constitutes a "67% remodel"? Is this an electrical inspector, or a home inspector, or some other type of inspector?

There use to be an inspector around here that would say if the remodeling affected more than 50% of the home then the entire home needed to be upgraded electrically. That didn't fly very long.:roll:

A smidgen over 2/3 would, exactly 2/3 would not, if I have it figured correctly.
