I need load the cd onto a Windows 7 machine. NFPA customer support said there is a glitch and gave me the number to Tech Support who are gone for the day. Anyone know the short cut?

Thanks.

Chris, what happens when you install the cd in the drive? Is that the issue- nothing happens or is something else going on. Need more info.

I got a new computer and called NFPA to reboot my download count. That was a piece of cake but the customer service rep told me that on W7 it would download to about 33% then fail. She gave me the number to tech support for the "short-cut". Just figured that possibly someone here went through this already. I would like to load it this weekend as typing wears me out. Cut and paste baby!

It's probably the same as the '05. Here is the procedure they sent me the attachment when I was trying to get '05 installed on Win 7.

(Does the User have a password protected User Account? If not, they may need to create a password.)

(Is the User Account Control turned on? If not, turn it on.)

1. Insert the NECH CD

2. If necessary, cancel the autorun

3. Go to Computer, right click on the NECH cd, choose Explore

4. On the NECH cd locate setup.exe (32-bit Setup Launcher), right click and choose Properties

5. In Properties select the Compatibility tab:
put a check in ?Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2):
put a check in ?Run this program as an administrator?
Click Apply and OK; You should be returned to the cd file list

6. Right click on Setup.exe and choose ?Run as administrator?

7. During the installation:

Welcome Screen, click Next
Software License Agreement, click Yes
Please Read the Following Text, click Next
Enter the serial number, click Next

Choose Destination Location Screen ? Follow these instructions:
Click Browse
In the Directories box, select c:\users\(choose your name)
In the Path box, add \NECH2008
Click OK; choose Yes to create new folder
You should be returned to the Choose Destination Location Menu
Click Next
Follow the rest of the defaults

8. After the installation is complete, click Finish

9. At this time, close all windows that were opened during the installation process.

10. Go to the Start button, Programs, find the National Electrical Code Handbook 2008 Edition folder, find NECH 2008, right click and choose Properties

11. In Properties select the Compatibility tab:

put a check in ?Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2):
put a check in ?Run this program as an administrator?
Click on ?Show settings for all users?
put a check in ?Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2):
put a check in ?Run this program as an administrator?
Click Apply and OK
Again, Click Apply and OK on the NECH 2008 Properties Screen

12. Go to Start, Programs, find the National Electrical Code Handbook 2008 Edition folder, and click on the NECH 2008 shortcut.
