better door latches

Do MCCs have better door latches on them nowadays or do the doors still have a tendancy to blow open when the breakers fault?

Customer with 800 Amp Main that decided to self destruct brings this to mind. 70s era AB MCC with ITE main

Yes, but you may have to pay extra for them.

I had a chance to see ABs solution for low voltage MCCs with the spring latch on the door. It's designed to let the pressure of the arc blast out around the edges of the door without blowing the door off completely. It looked interesting. I'd be interested to know if anyone has 'tested' any of these yet.

I wasn't aware that was optional, I thought it was part of UL845.

I have seen it work. It's still scary to see the flash come out around the edges, but in the case I witnessed the electrician who pushed the Start button on the door was unharmed (other than his pride when he "leaked" some of his bodily fluids in front of everyone).
