Using EMT as a ground

Are you still allowed to use emt as a ground? An inspector is telling that it is no longer allowed per the 2008 code book???

In the Phoenix metro area you can't.
Area specific requirement.

Cha,

Pull a Green EGC,
jump around the issue totally.

Realize that we can't go around replacing AHJ.
Realize that there are Local Amendments on top of NEC.
Realize that we can keep our heads straight in spite of it all.

I'm not throwing a green wire in every conduit, just to please the whimsical wishes of a loopy inspector

It could be a local amendment.
While i don't like it legally nec is fine with it.
Nicely ask the inspector for code number
if he cant provide it then call his boss

I was thinking of the motors we have wired to vibrating machinery.
We just always pulled an EGC.

I have politely asked the AHJ for a quote,
"for learning purposes", about other issues.
If there is no quote forthcoming, they will back down, probably.
