Assume metal box and cable. Please include associated NEC Article in your answer or an explanation of your reasoning for your interpretation.

# Current-carrying EGC* Disposition
(2) #8 #10 Passes through
Counts as (2) # 8 + ???
(2) #12 #12 Enters, spliced and leaves
Counts as (4) #12 + EGC
* Equipment grounding conductor

Question #1: Since the #8 passes through the box unbroken, does the inherent #10 in the cable have to be tied to the other EGC?s?

Question #2: If the #10 & #8's were each separate conductors, all still ran through unbroken and not part of a cable assembly, would this make a difference to bonding the #10 to the other EGC's present in the box?

Question #3: If the answer to Q#1 is NO, and the #10 EGC that is an inherent part of the #8 cable does NOT have to be stripped and tied into the other EGC?s, then is the #12 EGC the largest EGC Per Article 314.16 (B)(5) ?
It says the largest EGC ?present in the box?, but what defines ?present?? Is the EGC counted as #12 or #10?

Question #4: If the answer to Q#1 is NO, and the #10 EGC that is an inherent part of the #8 cable does NOT have to be stripped and tied into the other EGC?s, then does that #10 need to be counted as an additional conductor since it IS in the box, but is NOT being used as an EGC?

(2) #8 @ 3.00 = 6.00 or (2) #8 + (1) #10 @ 2.50 = 8.50
