am i missing a main disconnect and a ground rod here?
http://picasaweb.google.com/professional.wk/Greenhouse?feat=directlink
anybody have the code sections to hand?

MAINS:
I have a greenhouse [outbuilding], wired by contractor,
300 foot from the source 50A cb
run in pvc with [3*#6awg] and a #8gr
there is a 2p 20 and
[6] sp 20s
so there is no main disconnect

WIRE SIZE:
300' for 50a I would say he needs #1s just by rule of thumb
but the actual load is 22A from the heater, it is a greenhouse so say allow only 7amp worth of lights and fans non continuous loading.
gives me a min wire size of #8 but it is 300 foot...

there is also a chiller/vent but it only draws 8A.
calculator has a problem since I have 208v single phase [no listed in menu]
using 240v single phase which should be more generous it
tells me that the wire will sag 3.5% drop which is acceptable

the only issue is that the source CB should be a 40A

GROUND ROD
So here is the main part of the question. Any good code sections here?
Every outbuilding must have at least one rod driven [two would be better] and must have a local disconnect [accessible on the outside of the shack i would say] unless it is only fed by a snap switch.

Thanks!

More than six handles then you need a main breaker or a main disconnect. Back feed a breaker in the MLO panel and install a retainer clip and your done. You also need ground rods and bonding any metal pipes. 250.32

isn't backfeed a violation of manufacturer's label usually?
i think there is an expensive kit for the lugs, i don't know if a 40a cb will fit in that kit!
