I am dealing with an installation of an in-ground pool where the pump is 220volt. Will a double pole gfi breaker work on a 220 volt pump motor that has no nuetral.

which code cycle are you going by?
2005 didn't require GFCI for pool pumps if they were direct wired.Would it matter?

With most pool pumps, 430.52 will prohibit that.Sorry for the late post. Depending on the motor size, put it on a 25A breaker and no GFI is required at all. NEC2008.
Yes but still connect the neutral from the breaker to the neutral bar.
Why would it matter?

430.52 limits your SCGF potection to 250% od FLC in most cases.Actually, 430.52 is what allows it. Please explain.
The GFCI portion of the CB won't work without the neutral pigtail connected to the neutral bus.
If neutral of a GFCI circuit breaker is not connected, it will only function as a circuit breaker.
