When installing a new panel on an existing home, does the 210.12 B apply to the wires and circuits that are not being replaced or upgraded?
except of course the bedrooms per 2006 NEC.

Around here you are not required to afci a circuit if all you do is change the panel out. If you add to the circuit then you must AFCI the circuit. I would check with the AHJ because some areas req. you to use AFCI on a changeout.

Thanks, I was leaning toward that but wanted to verify. I checked with the city yesterday and they had the same interpretation.
