requirement of test pit

I just want to ask an advice if NEC specify the required no. of ground test pit on a grounding counterpoise. We have a soon to be proj. that requires counterpoise, i just want to know the minimum requirements or a rule oh thumb on this. thanks and regards...

the engineers usually spec how many pits, where, and what type of ground rod attachment they want.
