Cerro THHN Wire recall

Announced by the CPSC:

WIRE RECALL

Affected are 100' rolls of Red and White THHN wire. Wire is labeled correctly but the packaging and spools are marked 12ga while the wire is actually 14ga.

I'm sure most of the folks here would have noticed when you went to terminate the wire, but just in case...

I had the same thing happen w/ southwire MC cable about 3 months ago. I called them directly to inform of the problem, but i've yet to see any recall information. make sure your guys are always keeping their eyes peeled for things like this.

I doubt there is a single folk here that buys 100' rolls of THHN.:)

My thought exactly.


I agree it is probably not common practice (or best economy) but I can see situations where you are far enough from the supply house to find it cheaper to go to the big box store if you came up a bit short on a job.

Always nice getting beat up trying to post safety-related topics. :roll:
