240.83(D) Used as Switches. Circuit breakers used as switches in
120-volt and 277-volt fluorescent lighting circuits shall be
listed and shall be marked SWD or HID. Circuit breakers
used as switches in high-intensity discharge lighting circuits
shall be listed and shall be marked as HID.

Under what application do we use above breakers without installing a light switch or timer downstream of them?

not sure about the swd but, I thought UL 489 included HACR as part of its listing for all inverse trip as of a Code cycle or two past.

I have found and installed this configuration in stores and restaurants, not used everywhere in these locations, but in a shoe store, they were installed for all of the window show lighting and wall lighting - eliminated the need for switches, used switches for the overhead lighting.
