Or all of the above , running rmc , imc , emt ,ac cable to the first metal outlet box then continue in ac cable or nm if aloud.

Excpt. 1 is in regard to 210.12 B However it is in regard to using an AFCI recp. as the first devise. At this time no one is selling an AFCI recp.
IMHO the trouble of running ac cable or conduit is not worth the time or effort. Just run nm and install the breaker.

D U H , I miss read the article ,the way I was reading it service to the first outlet had to be one of the raceways mentioned AC cable etc. then continue on with what ever is aloud from that point.
