I've been in hotels where power to individual guest rooms can be activated from the register desk. Is there something similar that can be installed for an apartment building with all studio apartments, main breakers/floor in a single hallway panel/floor, CB panels in the apartments, and controlled from the lobby (24 hour security)?

A bit pricey, but SquareD has a line of "Powerlink" remote controlled breakers.
You can check their website for "Powerlink"

Funny thing we had a SQ-d system like that installed in a local store. I was done by the corp electrician. The proble is that no local EC had access into the system to troubleshoot. One day I was at the store and the system was removed and standard QO breakers were installed.
Never got the chance to bid that!

The CH brand are called SOB's:roll: Solenoid Operated Breaker
Square D's used to be motor operated, and I think they still are in the latest versions. The first time I installed these was a Sams Club in Panama City, FL. I think it was in the mid to late 80's Most of Wal-Marts stores use the CH brand now, But Depot has used a lot of the Square D models in a GE gear (GE didn't and I think still does not make a smart breaker.)
