The subcontractor is wiring pole light that are being feed with MC cable. They are 277v lamp poles. MC cables are entering the poles from the deck below and do not terminate to a box or enclosure, (just a cable feed). The MC is terminated on the other end at a 4x4 metal j-box mounted under the deck with about 20 feet of MC cable. I don't see in the NEC where MC has to be bonded on both ends, since it is bonded in the j-box. A male connector will be installed on the cable at the free end in the pole, to keep the red eye installed. I know the sheath needs to be bonded, but on both ends?

So basically you are pushing one end in and not making it up. Just putting the connector on with red in it. I'm sure it's done all the time.
I dont know if thier is an nec reference or not. Some body else might.
Although, If you have a lot to do like that you might want to check with your local ahj.

I can give a few references to read up on that could apply to your installation.

300.10 requires a mechanical bonding of cables to equipment served.

300.15(J) gives exception to needing a box at the pole as well as 300.12.

I don't see a problem as long as the cable is bonded to the pole.
