We recently wired a newly installed gas fireplace with an electronic ignition on a remodel job.The circuit has a ceiling fan on it. When the fan is coming up to speed it causes somthing in the fireplace to try to operate thus making a clicking noise. The manufacturer, when contacted states that a ceiling fan must not be wired to the same cicuit as the fireplace. I have never run across this problem before. Wondering if anyone else has and if there might be an easier solution since this remodel is completly finished now. The manufacturer's installation instructions do not mention this.

The manufacturer is crazy, IMO. If that was an issue then they should have it in their instructions.

Is it the fan coming to speed or is it a remote that is causing this issue?

Sounds like a remote control fan and a remote control igniter in the fire place. If this is the situation you could try a different DIP switch setting on the fan.

The fan is wired direct to a switch and comes to speed properly. The fire place remote control receiver makes a clicking noise like it is attempting to ignite the fireplace.

The fan coming to speed with no electronics is causing the remote to activate the fireplace???? Take the battery out of the remote for a minute or so and replace it and see if that does anything.
