This is concerning a project in California that went through plan check and approval in 2006. I am looking for the specific code that requires installation of plenum rated devices (fire life safety) to be installed. I know the NFPA 262 and NFPA 90A address plenum and cabling and I understand that NFPA 255 concerns testing of such devices but I need to find the part in the code where it requires installation of these approved devices in a plenum space.

Thank you for your time

I can't remember ever seeing a fire alarm device other than cable that had a plenum rating. I just looked over System Sensor's duct detector spec and install sheet and the word plenum is not on it. Those get installed in plenum areas a lot and they are made of some form of plastic or poly something.

And sorry I don't know the answer to which code might call for it.

Clarification would be needed as far as to what "Devices" this is referring to. Also, if it is referring to initiating devices a call to the Manufacturer might help. Also NFPA 90A & 90B for code references.
